• The US government mandates that ethanol from grain production be used in cars.

• This year, some 30 million acres, or almost 1/3 of the corn crop, will be dedicated to ethanol production.

• This will provide 3 per cent of US gasoline demand.

• Nonsense so blatant that only an intellectual or politician would fall for it.
