America Wake Up It's Voting Time

Honest Money Gold & Silver Report

"In the end more than they wanted freedom,
they wanted security."

Introduction

Election time is fast approaching with only two days to go. Will the Democrats win back the coveted ground they used to hold, or will business continue as usual?

We are of the opinion that it matters not who is elected, be it Democrat or Republican - either way business will continue as usual. It is what it is until it isn't.

When going to the polls this year perhaps the following should be given some thought and consideration.

It is said that we get what we deserve; however, if we demand more from our representatives they must respond or else be voted out of office. Our right to vote is a powerful tool if we use it properly.

We need to ask ourselves where is America headed, and even more importantly: where do we want it to be headed? Is there an ultimate goal in sight, and if so, what is it? Is there a coherent and viable plan that can be implemented to obtain our goals?

Just as an individual person must be well grounded and have a specific set of goals and plans to obtain such, so too must a nation be well grounded and have specific goals and plans.

Otherwise we are haphazardly floundering about in the sea of life, without sail or rudder, subject to the vicissitudes of the ocean's waves that jostle one about, first one way and then another.

We are no longer captain of our own ship, having relinquished that power to others. We must not give up our freedoms and rights so easily. The path of least resistance is not always the best - usually it is the worst.

Times They Are A' Changing

A lot of changes have been occurring regarding the passage of legislation that will have a huge impact on our future, and especially on our children's and their children's future.

Silently yet powerfully effective behind the scenes events have been usurping many of our freedoms and rights away from us slowly but surely.

Freedoms and rights that our forefathers fought for and placed into the Constitution to be adhered to by those we entrust with government office.

All elected officials work for We The People. Our elected representatives only hold office because we allow them to - lest not we, nor they, forget that.

We are presently involved in two wars, or one war on two fronts: Iraq and the war on terrorism. Our homeland should always be protected - when attacked, of that there is neither question nor doubt.

Iraqi

The war in Iraqi is a huge blunder of foreign policy run amuck. No one can seriously think that anytime within the next 10 years that peace will reign in Iraqi with a western style democratic government that is self-sustainable without further US military intervention.

The costs have been tragic - the lives lost, the maimed and crippled conditions that survivors have to bare, the terrible trauma to men and women, and especially to the children that have lost loved ones: fathers and mothers. It is truly sad.

The financial and monetary costs have been great as well, and will continue to become yet greater still. Also, the international image of the U.S. has been irreparably diminished. Many view the U.S. as the bully on the block of the world stage - dictating what shall be.

Quo Warranto

From whence comes the authority to be the policeman of the world? From whence comes the right to dictate to others how they should live their lives? With power comes responsibility.

War cannot end war, just as darkness cannot end night - only the light of day can dispel the darkness of night.

The invasion of Iraq was a mistake. We should admit the mistake and withdraw. There is nothing wrong with being wrong - only in remaining wrong. Two wrongs never make a right.

Terrorism should not be allowed and should be ended as quickly as possible. Of this there is no doubt. There is doubt, however, as to what means are needed to affect the desired goal, i.e. the end of terrorism.

Should the freedoms and rights our Constitution be revoked under the assumption that such is needed to win the fight against terrorism? I think not. As John Adams well understood when he said:

"There is danger from all men.
The only maxim of a free Government Ought to be
to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty."

The Bold & The Meek

There has been a huge change in the laws during the past few years. Legislation is proposed by a powerful President, and quickly passed by a Congress that appears meek, timid, and uneducated regarding understanding the Constitution.

It appears that many have no idea what the Constitution says. Yet they take an oath of office to uphold it. It also appears that most of them may not have even read the document, or if they have they don't recall what it says.

We are of the opinion that the following laws and statutes need to be changed, if the people so desire such change. Before We The People can make an informed decision on such grave issues, we need to become aware and educated concerning just what it is that is at stake.

The Acts

It is towards the pursuit of such awareness that this paper is offered. But by itself it is not enough. The news media and the academic community need to participate as well.

The above represents some of the recent legislation that has been passed. What is most startling is the way that such far-reaching changes to our rights and freedoms have been made without anyone even knowing about it.

Why

Why was it done in such a clandestine manner? Is there something that needs to be hidden from view? Have you read in your local newspaper stories explaining any of the above-listed items? Have you heard it discussed on the major TV stations? Has it been featured on the cover of TIME or NEWSWEEK?

Why not? Are not our most basic rights and freedoms worthy of discussion; especially as they seemingly disappear before are eyes?

It is as if no one even knows it was done, let alone was it explained to We The People, never mine asking us if that is the kind of changes we want implemented.

It has been carried out in the manner of a thief who comes under the cover of night - taking his plunder before darkness gives way to the light of day.

Which Way

The world is at a crossroads - a fork in the road; one way leads to the left, the other way to the right. A decision must be made as to which way we choose to journey.

Before making a choice - ask some questions, get a map with a layout of the land to be crossed, talk to others that have taken the way you are considering going - make sure you know what you want and what you will be getting - before you choose, as afterwards it may be too late.

'Don't let us quarrel,' the White Queen said in an anxious tone. 'What is the cause of lightning?'

'The cause of lightning,' Alice said very decidedly, for she felt quite certain about this, 'is the thunder--no, no!' she hastily corrected herself. 'I meant the other way.'

'It's too late to correct it,' said the Red Queen: 'when you've once said a thing, that fixes it, and you must take the consequences.'
