The World's Greatest Threat: Islamic Fundamentalists -- A War Against Minds

This is the fifth and final installment we will be presenting in this series. It and its predecessors are from absolutely fascinating work originally done by 13D Research, Inc. (Boca Raton, FL and Ketchum, ID).

The series was written in 2001 -- started before 9/11 -- and was authored under the umbrella title of, "The World's Greatest Threat: Islamic Fundamentalists." The current offering was Part 5 of the original 13D series, carrying the subtitle, "The Solution: A War Against the Minds?" It was published on 9/20/01, less than two after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

A quote from the article's text:

"Where do we go from here? How should we respond to the growing scourge of radical Islamic fundamentalists?

"...Destroying Al Qaeda camps might help, but it will not resolve the crisis. Instead, we must launch a global war against the Islamic radicals that have perverted the Islamic religion, those who have distorted it into a political tool to excite anti-Western sentiment

"...To be effective on this front, we cannot be afraid to offend, to tip to around the issues lest we be accused of racism or 'Islamaaphobia.' Call a spade a spade. This is not a war against terrorists...this is a crusade against the perversion of the Islamic religion. We must enlist the millions of Muslims that have allowed their religion, either through complacency or fear, to be taken from them."

Again, we extend our sincere thanks to friend, client and 13D president, Kiril Sokoloff, for granting his permission to republish this excellent, highly prescient material. For those not familiar with the firm's work, you will see why it is so highly regarded after reading the articles referenced here. Also, be sure to visit the firm's website at 13D Research, Inc.

Like the prior four pieces we've already run, the current offering has withstood the test of time exceptionally well. In some respects, this series makes better reading now, almost three years after the fact, than it did in the immediate, highly emotional aftermath of 9/11. (NOTE: Not all the views expressed in this material necessarily reflect those of Gillespie Research Associates.)

If you did not read one or more of the first four installments but wish to do so, go to the Gillespie Research website home page. They are posted there in the "Guest Contributions" section (lower right-hand column). The prior installments are dated 8/5, 7/27 and 8/15 and 8/28. Moreover, in the same location on the home page you will find a piece entitled, "What I Learned This Week" (dated 4/29). Kiril Sokoloff writes and publishes "WILTW" as a key component of 13D's overall product. Each edition is a treasure trove of intriguing, diverse material, and you will find the edition posted on the website very interesting.

Now, access and enjoy, "The World's Greatest Threat: Islamic Fundamentalists (Part 5) -- The Solution: A War Against the Minds?"
